Birthday

Scott gave me a bit of a hard time given that his birthday didn't make the blog. I hope I can be forgiven, though, because he had a pretty darn fun birthday despite my faux-pas.

In fact, Scott's birthday celebrations continued to this weekend as he, my mom and my niece Kate all have their birthdays in February. To celebrate, the whole gang came over to our place for brunch and cake and gifts. That's my mom on the left blowing out her cake with the help of my nephew Dawson.

By the way, Scott insisted that if he was going to share his birthday celebrations with others he was still going to need his very own cake. So my sister made sure every birthday celebrator had their own individual sized-cake to supplement the communal cake.

Then we went for a walk to evaluate the all playgrounds within a five block radius of our home. Here are the ratings: the elementary school's playground was big and awesome and had lots of kinda safety-bereft equipment. The park's playground was smaller and somewhat less dangerous but with better monkey bars. Both got thumbs up from the kids. We didn't make it to the third and last playground on our tour 'cause the need for more cake set in.

As for the gifts? Well, Scott and I got Kate a book that she had already received, my parents gave Scott a book that he already had, and Mom lucked out with receiving a book that no-one else had already found for her.
